Abstract

6311. Lord, G. W. March [16, 1908, [Convention date]. Hat, coat, and umbrella holders.-In locking- apparatus for coats, bats &c., the hook 5 for the coat is closed by a sliding belt 10 located within the casing and operable by a handle 11 against the action of a spring 14. The bolt is locked in its closing position by means of a friction clutch 20, pivoted in the expanded part 21<a> of the casing. The clutch is held in the engaging position by. means of a pawl 38 engaging a pin 39 thereon, and is operated against the action of a spring 24 to release the bolt by means of projections 28, 29 on a cog-wheel 26, operated by the key. The arm 37 of the pawl 38 extends into the keyway and is operated when the key is inserted. The cog-wheel 26 also operates a sliding bar 43 which closes the umbrella fork 48. When the bolt 10 is pulled downwards, it operates a curved bolt 49, which serves to clamp a bat placed on the rest 48 against the cam piece 50.
