Potato-planters.-Relates to means for regulating the intervals between the sown potatoes, and to means for throwing the delivery devices of multiple machines into and out of gear. The first comprises a friction wheel m between a gear-wheel k driven from the ground-wheel and the drum b containing pockets c for the potatoes. The speed of the drum, and hence the intervals between the potatoes, is altered by turning a wheel q on a screwed sleeve n carrying the wheel m. An iudex r, attached to the wheel q, moves over the face of a scale s. In the multiple machine, Fig. 4, the drums are driven from the axle 3 by a feather and clutch. When a delivery tube 17 is raised by a handle 19, a slotted plate 29, Fig. 7,.attached to the tube, frees a clutch member 16 by sliding it along the feather, and the drum ceases to rotate. The speed of delivery can be altered by placing wheels 6 of different sizes between the driving-wheels 4, 4<a>, a slot 5 being provided to allow of this, or a friction wheel may be used as above described.
