Abstract
5383. Newton, P. A., [Farbenfabriken vorm. F. Bayer & Co.]. March 5. Samples furnished. Disazo dyes are obtained by converting sulphonic or carboxylic acids of aminoazo compounds containing only one amino group and no hydroxy group into the symmetrical diarylurea or diarylthiourea compounds by treatment with phosgene, thiophosgene, or the equivalent thereof, such as perchlormethylformate or hexachlordimethyl carbonate. As parent materials for the production of aminoazo compounds which are converted into urea derivatives the following are specified :-m- or p-sulphanilic acid and o-anisidine ; 2-anisidine-4-sulphonic acid and cresidine, p-xylidine, or aniline ; m-aminobenzoic acid and o-anisidine ; 1-naphthylamine- 3 : 6-disulphonic acid and o-anisidine ; 2-naphthylamine-4 : 8-disulphonic acid and o-anisidine or a-naphthylamine. The thiourea from the aminoazo compound obtained from m-aminobenzoic acid and o-anisidine is also specified. The products dye cotton various shades of yellow. Specifications 14,222/89 and 11,343/99 are referred to.
