4743. Merrett, J. Feb. 26. Pivoted - blade type.- Relates to trimming- boards for photographs and the like, in which a pivoted shear blade cooperates with a shear blade fixed on the edge of the trimming-board. The pivoted blade B is straight and rigid and has no handle. It is pivoted by means of a double pivoted hinge E which will allow sidelong motion. A plate spring C keeps the blade B against the fixed blade A in making the cut, and raises the blade B at the end of the stroke. A stop F limits the downward stroke of the blade B, and when the trimmer is out of use, the blade B is brought down and sprung over the stop, which engages a hole H in the blade. A graduated rule is adjustably attached to the trimming-board by screws passing through slots in the rule.
