4106. Elliott, S. Feb. 19. Revolving doors of the type described in Specifications 3777/08, and 5964/08. The central portion of the door is provided with a pair of swing doors b pivoted to a rail connecting the upper ends of the wings c, and to a metal bar connecting the lower ends of the door wings and turning on a pivot on the floor. The mechanism for causing the door to return to its closed position comprises two crank-pins mounted on a boss on the spindle h<1> and provided with rollers o, against which bear two metal bars p pivoted at one end to the casing a and held at the other end against the rollers o by aprings q. When the door is fully opened, as shown in Fig. 6, wedges s mounted on the spindle h<1> engage a wedge t on a bar t<1> drawn towards the spindle by a spring u, so that the door cannot remain in a position of unstable equilibrium. One of the wedges s or t may be replaced by rollers. To retard the motion of the door, an air brake or dashpot v is employed, the piston-rod w being connected to a crank-pin x<1> on a spur-wheel x, which gears with a pinion y on the spindle. The spindle h<1> is arranged to turn on ball bearings.
