Opening by cutting.-A can-opener comprises a case or holder B, in which slides a bar A provided with a bridle or socket D for the reception of one or other of two cutter-blades for vertical or horizontal cutting. The socket is preferably tapered to receive the tapered shank e of the cutter-blade E, which is held by a set-screw d. The bar A carries a pin b adapted to move in a slot c in the case B. The cutter-blade may be removed by unscrewing the set-screw d and moving the bar smartly outwards, so that its pin b engages the projecting shank e of the cutter-blade.
