Pencil-holders.-In pencils of the type having a tubular casing tapered at one end and a. hollow lead holder with clamping jaws at its corresponding end adapted to be thrust against the casing, to grip the lead, by means of threaded portions on the holder and casing, an outwardly projecting flange 12 on a cap 11 on the lead holder 2 engages an inwardly projecting flange 4 on the adjacent end of the casing 1. The tapered portion 5 may have the thread 6 formed on it and be brazed &c. to the barrel 1, or it may be integral with the barrel and the thread be formed on a separate piece secured in any position in the barrel. The cap 11 may hold a rubber 13.
