Abstract
2027. British Thomson-Houston Co., [General Electric Co.]. Jan. 27. Arc-lamp electrodes, containing rutile and one or more other metallic oxides mixed so intimately that they volatilize simultaneously in use, are made by fusing the oxides together to form a mass which, when cold, is powdered and filled into iron or other tubes. Such electrodes are applicable as cathodes with anodes of carbon, or copper or other metal ; they may contain about 70 parts of magnetite, 30 parts of rutite, 5 parts of chromite or chromium oxide, and optionally a little potassium fluoride. According to the Provisional Specification, the electrodes may be cast or otherwise formed from the fused mass. Specifications 3731/00, 26,915/04, and 26,920/04 are referred to.
