Abstract

1631. Whitley, A. A. Jan. 22. Stretching and tentering, clips for. Relates to clips of the type described in Specifications 8535/05, 6417/06, and 28,744/07. An upperjaw arm 3 is pivoted at 6, and an arm 1 carrying a feeler 2 is pivoted to the arm 3 at 5. When the feeler 2 is supported by the fabric, the arm 3 is held raised by the part of the arm 3 between a cam-surface 7 and the pivot 5, which acts as a strut between the pivot 5 and a fixed pin 8 on the framework of the clip. An opening-lever 9 may be integral with the arm 3 as shown in Fig. 1, or it may be pivoted to it as shown in Fig. 5. In the latter construction, in the open-jaw position the arm 9 is locked by projections 10 which rest on projections 11 on the arm 3. When the jaw falls, the arm 9 is unlocked and, being pulled over by a spring 12, an extension 15 presses on an inclined surface 16 and completes the closing movement of the jaws.
