Abstract

1602. Scoter, W. van. Jan. 22. Current motors.-A water-wheel, of the class having an horizontally rotatable body and blades pivoted on this body so as to be capable of being opened and closed, is fitted with an annular row of curved blades each pivoted midway of its width and adapted to be arranged concentrically relatively to the axis of the body and to meet adjacent blades edge to edge when these are closed. The blades G, Figs. 1 and 3, are carried by rods g pivoted in the rotatable heads E, E<1>, which are held tightly against the ends of the drum e by bolts f. A deflector J directs the water against one side of the wheel. The blades are held rigid when in their open position by coming into contact with the drum e. In their closed position they are held from further rotation by stops i.
