302. Bright, D. M. Jan. 6. Pulleys.-In pulleys in which the rim consists of segments of wood &c. glued or pinned together, the rim is provided with recesses c for retaining end-pieces d which consist of a number of thicknesses of wood or the like arranged with their grain crossed. The nave may be of the same width as the pulley, or of less width, in which case it is divided and extends a suitable distance inwards from each end, or is centrally fitted and the central sections of the rim a are made slightly thicker to enable the end pieces d to be secured thereto.
