Abstract

27,970. Telle, E. Dec. 23. Teeth, artificial.-Dentures are obtained by welding blocks of one or more teeth C, Fig. 5, having celluloid backings B to a thin celluloid plate A by means of a solution of celluloid in a vaporizable solvent, such as alcohol and ether. An old denture A of vulcanite or the like may be repaired by making a recess at the required part a<6>, Fig. 7, of the plate A<1>, filling in with celluloid, and then mounting the teeth D as before. The celluloid plate A, Fig. 5, is obtained in the usual manner, but a cast is used in which ridges are covered by tin-foil,' so that clearance at these parts is obtained in the finished article, and the celluloid is toughened and freed from a portion of its camphor by compressing in the mould at a temperature at or above 300‹ F. The teeth blocks are obtained by mounting one or more teeth C in wax, arranging in an articulator, and boiling-out and replacing the wax by celluloid.
