Abstract

Locks, key; latches; striking- plates.-A device for preventing doors and windows from rattling when locked comprises a spring - controlled sliding piece g<1>, Figs. 7 and 7a, in the striking - plate C, which is adapted to be pressed in by the bolt a when this is shot, and afterwards to spring behind the bolt and slide up the incline k on the striking-plate to wedge the bolt. In a modified form shown in Fig. 1, a pivoted lever g is provided in the staple, and is forced to wedge the bolt a by means of a spring i which is engaged by the nose of the bolt when this is shot. In another form, Fig. 5, an inclined piece f is provided in the striking-plate c or on the bolt a, and the inclined surface may be replaced by a spring, or by spring-mounted rollers, balls, eccentrics, &c.
