Fire-bars.-In fire-bars for steam-boiler and like furnaces of the kind described in Specification No. 17,616, A.D. 1899, the " cover plate," arranged to receive projections on the sections, is dispensed with, and the sections are provided with a half-lap joint so that the ribs F within the water trough E may be continued to nearer the end of the sections. Projections G, which rest on the trough, are formed on the underside of the bars, spaces H being left for the upward passage of steam, and the air spaces C are arranged opposite the projections D on adjacent bars.
