Aminoacidylpyrocatechins are prepared by hydrolysis of the N-phthalyliminoacidylpyrocatechin. dialkylethers of the general formulawhere R1 = alkyl, and R = an alkyl residue, for example -CH2-, -CH2-CH2-, CH3-CH=. Thus can be produced aminoacetylpyrocatechin, a- and # aminopropionylpyrocatechin, &c. The products have similar properties to the substance contained in the suprarenal glands. N - Phthalyliminoacidylpyrocatechindialkylethers of the above formula are prepared by treating dialkylethers of pyrocatechin, say veratrol, with, phthalylimino acid chlorides in the presence of aluminium chloride. In this manner are prepared N-phthalyliminoacetoveratrol, a- and #.N-phthalyliminopropionylveratrol, &c.
