Abstract

22,342. Dossetter, W. J. Oct. 21. Exercising-apparatus ; dumb-bells.-A spring- grip, separate from, but adapted to be used in conjunction with, an ordinary dumb-bell e consists of two or more springs a, b interposed between two members c, d. The member d is shaped to the contour of the handle of the dumb-bell, and carries spindles f down which the member c is adapted to slide. The spindles f may be dispensed with. In a modified construction, the springs are situated on the other side of the member c and are placed in tension when the dumb-bell is gripped. When a number of springs are used, the grip is arranged so that one or more of the springs may be removed. The Provisional Specification also describes a modification in which one end of each spring is looped to engage the handle of the dumbbell while the other end is fastened to a handgripping member.
