Abstract

21,892. Gregg, S. March 10, 1909. Bedsteads.-An invalid's bedstead comprises a movable frame b, covered with canvas d, and situated above the bedstead frame proper. The frame b is adapted to rest on an intermediate frame c or to be raised by means of cords g, or to be tilted so that it may be employed as a bed-lift. Each of the cords g is connected at one end to a winding-drum j, mounted at each end of the bedstead ; the cord is then passed through an eye l on the frame b, over a pulley m mounted on the extended pillar of the bedstead, around pulleys n at the side of the bedstead, and over a second pulley m, and is secured to the other end of the frame b. By operating the winding-drums singly the frame b may be tilted to one side or the other, and by operating both it may be raised vertically. The frame may be supported in its raised position by means of pins, slidably attached to the frame b or separate therefrom, and fitting in slots in the uprights.
