Abstract
21,791. Thompson, H. S. Oct. 15. Incandescent gas lamps.-A mantle-holder for incandescent gas lamps comprises a ring-like top a provided with depending prongs b having hooks on which the mantle is suspended by means of loops d formed by threading cord or wire through the top of the mantle. The mantle is folded over once or twice at the top and a strengthening-strip may be inserted within the folds. The holder is made of cast or stamped metal, or of magnesia, and in the case of an inverted mantle the holder may be provided with long prongs which extend outside the mantle and support it. Alternatively a sheetmetal or wire holder may be attached, either permanently, or by clips or wire, to the ring a. In the case of an upright mantle, the holder is formed with a bridge or core k to facilitate the suspension of the mantle c from the usual rod l. When the holder is made of metal, it may be coated with magnesia or lime.
