Abstract

21,660. Schimming, G. Oct. 14, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907J. Producers.-The fuel is preheated or distilled in a down-draught producer by rapidly and periodically interrupting the air supply, and during the intervals of interruption withdrawing part of the gas from the lower into the upper zones of the fuel column. The air-supply valve E is actuated in conjunction with a piston G working in a vertical cylinder F so that when the valve closes the piston rises and draws gas from the producer into the cylinder ; when the valve opens, the piston descends. In a modification, a similar arrangement of piston cylinder and valve is used in connexion with the gas-outlet pipe L. The fuel is fed continuously from a hopper B.
