Abstract

17,618. Arsem, W. C. Aug. 24, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Mixing pasty materials for making electric-lamp filaments. An oxide of a refractory metal is mixed with finely divided carbon and a binder by repeated extrusion, before being squirted into filaments. A series of successively smaller orifices may be used. The oxides may be those of tungsten, molybdenum, or tantalum, and the binder may be a mixture of ceresine, gilsonite, and resin.
