Safes and strong rooms.-In a double-walled safe, the outer wall consists of a single steel plate a, and the inner wall of a chrome-steel plate b, a layer of asbestos c, and a steel plate d. Between the walls are inserted bodies e consisting of bars of non-malleable cast iron of Z-sbaped cross-section, which always offer oblique surfaces to tools attacking them, the surfaces f that are liable to attack being preferably hardened. The bodies e are made of an alloy of fresh and old cast iron. The spaces g are filled with a refractory insulating-mass.
