Abstract

15,327. Veulle, F. H. de. July 20. Clutches.-Relates to claw clutches of the type in which the parts will engage, whatever be the relative position of the teeth. A double clutch for driving the gear-wheel B in both directions from the driving- shaft A is shown in Fig. 1. Keyed to slide on the shaft A a sleeves H, provided with quick threads G engaged by members E, F carrying clutch teeth adapted to engage similar teeth C, D secured to the wheel B. Keys M are pressed to the left to disengage the clutches. If the clutch teeth do not engage when the clutch is brought into action, the sleeves E, F turn back on the threads G against the action of light springs J until the teeth register. The parts are then brought into engagement by the action of strong springs L bearing on plates K secured to the sleeves H. In a modification, Fig. 7, one member E' is pressed against the other C<2>, which can rotate on a thread G<2> on the shaft A if the teeth do not register.
