A pedestal or support D for a sink or basin F having a slop block such as is described in Specification No. 3237, A.D. 1896, is made with a discharge pipe D<5> and is partly supported by a block B, in which is a trapped passage L. The discharge pipe D' may be moulded in the part D<3> and may have an ascending branch forming a trap, in which case the passage in the block B is not trapped. Ventilating and cleaning passages M, N, P are formed in the block. The pedestal may be narrow in section and is then fitted with brackets for supporting the basin.
