Abstract
10,192. Barcsai, D., and Barcsai, L. May 11. Scaffolding and staging.-Relates to scaffolding in which two parallel rows of standards are connected both longitudinally and transversely by planks set on edge. Each standard comprises a pair of poles a, connected together by rungs a<1> and bolts b. Transverse planks e, f, the former of which are notched to engage the rungs, connect opposite standards. Staging boards h and ledge boards i are supported by the planks f, which are prevented from being displaced by pins g. The scaffolding is secured to a building by planks l which are secured at one end to the posts a by screw shackles m, and at the other end are pressed against the sides of openings in the building by double screw clamps n. In the case of a solid wall one end of the plank l is provided with an iron strap held to a wall spike by means of a nut. Notched boards r engage with the posts l to connect them together. The standards are increased in height by connecting pairs of poles together by S-hooks and bolts. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the transverse planks e are supported on planks u, carried by other transverse planks e<1> which are supported by engaging the rungs a<1>.
