Chucks.-In an apparatus for electro-deposition, each piece of work b is held in the holder in any suitable manner, for example by being held below a circular plate v having three radial arms v', between which slide segments w having downwardly extending ends or flanges w<1>. The work b is held by the roughened or spiked inner surface of the jaws w<1> by means of a ring x passed over the tapered outer surface and secured in position by slotted pins x<1>, which are provided on the arms v<1> and pass through holes in lugs x' on the ring x. Wedges or cotters y are driven through the slots below the lugs x<2>. The plates w are adjustably secured to the plate v by screws w' passing loosely through slots w<3>; or the jaws w<1> may be held against the work b by means of a tapered ring z, say of wood fibre, which is forced over the tapered jaws w<1>.
