Abstract

8415. Noeggerath, J. E. April 25, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Homopolar type; armatures; collecting-rings.- In a homopolar machine having collecting-rings at opposite ends of the armature, the armature conductors, which are secured at either end to a collector ring, are divided at a point between the two sets of rings into separable parts, so that the rings may be removed without disconnecting them from the conductors. The armature core A, which is divided into separable parts, carries at each end a set of collector rings B movable away from each other, either by moving either set on the core or by separating the parts of which the armature is composed. The armature conductors C are secured at the opposite ends to collector rings, and are divided at a point between the two sets of rings into separable parts, the inner end of one part being arranged to enter the inner end of the other. A continuous sleeve of insulation D may be employed to cover the conductor where it passes through the core.
