Abstract

6507. Williams, A. March 24. Ball and float valves lift valves.-In float valves of the kind in which a plunger is used to cut off the supply either directly, or through the interposition of a ball, as shown, or a washer on the end of the plunger, the outer end of the plunger f is made conical or conoidal, and engages in a cup-shaped depression in the lever. The ball is shown situated between a cup-shaped seating and a similar depression in the plunger, the seating and depression being of larger radius than that of the ball. A stop l on the lever acting against the casing prevents the float lever from falling to the position in which the plunger would leave the valve casing.
