Abstract
6446. Lehman J. F. March 22, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Carding-engines.-To sharpen the teeth of card covered rollers and particularly the teeth of lickersin, the roller is rotated in a cylinder containing emery. The roller 11, Fig. 1, is mounted in bearings 9 outside the ends of a cylinder A having a hinged cover 3. Emery is fed into a cylinder through a hopper 6. The rotation of the spirally arranged teeth on the roller 11 causes the emery to be crowded up to the end of the cylinder, from which it is returned to the hopper end by a rotating screw 13 working in a hemispherical trough. Washers 12, 16 are mounted on the shafts to prevent emery from working into the bearings.
