Abstract

4112. Siemens Bros. Dynamo Works, [Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.]. Feb. 24. Electric railways and tramways on the overheadconductor system wherein the ends of adjacent conductor sections overlap but are suitably separated. Conductors.-Relates to a combined section insulator and tightening-gear for use at the overlapping portions or ends. The Figure shows the application of the invention to conductors supported in the manner described in Specification No. 619, A.D. 1906. The overhead conductors 1, 2 are supported between the posts 7, 8 from tubular metal rods 13, 14, by means of sliding loops 16, 17, 18 and 19, 20, 21, respectively. The adjacent ends of the conductors are drawn upwards slightly without touching one another, and connected to insulating- devices 29, 30 movably guided on the rods or rails 31, 32. The conductors are strained or kept taut by weights connected by chains 27 to the insulating-devices. The longer loops 18, 19 are fitted with rollers under the. rods 13, 14, and press the. conductors 1, 2 downwards at these points so as to form as acute or easy an angle as possible for the passage of the current collector. The auxiliary wires 3, 4 terminate at insulators 3<1>, 4<1> so as to give the widest possible air-space between the bracket arm and the live trolly wires.
