Abstract
3591. Kuhnen, H. Feb. 17. Felloes or rims.-In wheels of the kind in which a detachable rim part 3, Fig. 1, is connected to the fixed rim part 2 by screw bolts 7 carrying rotatable ferrules 6 with projecting dogs 5, sleeves 4 are used to receive at one part the screwed ends of the bolts, and are formed for the rest of their length with a smooth bore wider than the bolt stems. Flanges on the sleeves 4 are flattened at the parts where they bear on the fixed rim part, Fig. 2, to prevent turning. The dogs 5 enter registering slots 8, 9 on the fixed and detachable rim parts respectively, and may be made T-shaped, Fig. 3. The detachable rim part may be transversely divided, and may be used for holding a detachable tyre-carrying rim 10, or the two rim parts may themselves be provided with tyre-retaining beads.
