Abstract
2897. Dick, W. Feb. 10. Making nails.; shearing.-In a machine for making two nails at a time by punching-out one nail near the end of the nail strip, the end piece cut off forming a second nail, the driving- shaft D, Fig. 3, is mounted in a body A, and by means of an eccentric pin d<2> reciprocates the punch e<1> and slide E. The cutter box F adjustable on the body A carries adjustable and sloped plates f<4>, forming a nail space f<7> between their upper edges. A stop G for the end of the nail strip is provided, and the machine may be tilted, as shown in Fig. 5, to assist the nails to slide away.
