2508. Shuttleworth, A. Feb. 4. Lubricators. - A lubricator for gas exhausters employed in the process of purifying coal gas comprises a sight-feed oil cup from which lubricant is forced by pressure of the gas in the exhauster. The upper end of a glass cylinder M is connected by a pipe i, fitted with valves g, j, to the outer cylinder A of the exhauster. The pressure of the gas forces the lubricant from the cylinder M to an opening t to lubricate the end of the inner drum C, and through a pipe p to a bore d in a stationary shaft G, whence the lubricant passes through holes c to the bosses H, upon which are mounted arms K carrying the blades E of the exhauster. The pipes N, p are fitted with taps and valves e, L, s. The cylinder M is charged with lubricant by means of a dish m provided with a screwed stopper n.
