Abstract
28,556. Trossin, O., and Robinson, I. E. Dec. 28. Steam-generator furnaces.-In a sectional boiler in which approximately vertical headers are connected by parallel tubes, the products of combustion 'pass from the furnace D through the combustion chamber C to a chamber E at the rear, and out to the flue round baffles N, N' arranged among the tubes. The furnace chamber, into which powdered or small fuel is fed from the top, is separated from the remainder of the heating space by the combustion chamber C and a wall C<3>. The tubes are arranged above and at the sides of the furnace and combustion chamber, and air, which is heated in passages below the boiler, is passed into the furnace between the tubes of the lateral groups. The furnace grate is formed by an inclined plate F and rotatable sections built up of bars G<1> arranged alternately at right-angles on rods G. The water and steam drums H, H<1> are arranged at right-angles to the tubes, and are connected to the headers by tubes J, J<1>.
