Abstract

27,154. Amor, G. W. Dec. 9. Condensers.-Corrugated pipes A in evaporative surface condensers for condensing exhaust steam are formed with gutters B for the passage of water of condensation. The gutters are made as deep as, or deeper than the corrugations, and may extend the full length of the pipes, or only between the extreme corrugations. The gutters lead into a drainage-pipe O, which may pass through the ends of the pipes, and may be provided with perforations M coincident with the bases of the gutters. In modifications, the drain-pipe passes through connecting-pieces at the ends of the pipes; or each gutter is provided with a separate pipe leading into a main drain-pipe. Specifications No. 17,755, A.D. 1907, and No. 24,851, A.D. 1908, are referred to. In the Provisional Specification, the application of the gutters to gilled pipes is referred to.
