Abstract
25,025. Houghton, J. A. Nov. 12. Lay-figure stands. -Relates to dress stands of the type in which the bust is covered with papier mÔchÚ &c. and the skirt portion is formed of wirework &c., and consists in forming the bust in two portions hinged together, preferably at the back, and adapted to expand automatically under the action of one or more springs to a degree regulated by lacing &c., preferably arranged down the front. The bust shown has two portions a, b mounted upon wooden bases c, d hinged together at the back e. The expansion produced by the spring f is regulated by the lacing p. The skirt portion g, which may be in one piece and divided at the front, or in two portions hinged together at the back, is expanded by means of a rod h which slides in the eye of another rod k. A collar on the central standard fits under the woodon bases c, d in order to support the bust, and the standard preferably has an upper telescopic extension which passes through recesses l in the bases.
