18,247. Watson, J. I. Aug. 12. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to a gear case for chain - driven mctor - cars, and consists in the arrangement of the brackets and bearers for the case. The large end of the gear case 1 is fitted with a strap 2, which extends upward as near as possible to the main axle 3 and is pivotally hung on a bolt 4 on the bracket 5, which can be clamped to the axle. A stud 6 is passed through a slot 7 in an arm depending from the bracket 5 and is fixed to the strap 2. The case then may turn about the centre 4. The other end of the case has a strap 8 pivotally mounted upon a bolt 9 projecting from a bracket 10 which is fixed to the car. Studs 11, 12 project from the strap 8 through slots 13, 14 in the bracket 10, and allow play longitudinally to admit of the gear rising and falling with the car body.
