Abstract

17,704. Marzi, D. April 25, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Telephones.-The diaphragm of an electromagnetic telephone receiver or transmitter is connected by a lever to a magnetic armature which vibrates between the poles of a magnet. The line coils may surround the magnet poles or, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, they may surround the armature. In the receiver shown in Fig. 3, the vibrations of the armature 1, pivoted between the pole-pieces 11 of the magnet N, S and surrounded by the line coils 10, are transmitted in amplified form to the diaphragm 4 through the lever 3. In the transmitter shown in Fig. 4, the vibrations of the diaphragm are transmitted to the armature 1 through the amplifying-lever 15. The receiver may itself act as the calling-instrument.
