Abstract

17,314. Mond, R. July 29. Springs.-The bodies of motor-cars are supported upon the chassis by C-springs, a number of auxiliary springs being provided with their ends connected respectively to rings fixed to the body and chassis, and to a smaller intermediate ring. C-springs b are connected to the body by straps c, and may be arranged either parallel, or at an angle to each other. Rings d, e, fixed respectively to the body and chassis, are connected to an intermediate ring or disk f by springs g, h. In order to check excessive vertical vibrations, springs may be inserted directly between the rings d, e. Fig. 2 shows a thick rubber ring l arranged between cups i, k with its axis horizontal.
