Abstract

15,596. Evensen, T. G. July 9, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Pianofortes.-The iron frame is formed with ribs 4, 5, 6 for strengthening the bow 3 for the treble strings, and with ribs 9, 10, 11 for the middle register bow 7, and that part of the frame beyond the brass strings is strengthened by ribs 13, 14, 15 in such a way as to give the frame a symmetrical form. The lines of the frame are rounded off as shown, and lugs 12, 19 are provided for connexion with the sides of the case, and lugs 20, 21 for connexion with the key bottom. The wrest plank is supported by an horizontal or slightly inclined shelf 1 projecting rearwardly across the whole width of the iron frame. The soundboard is fixed by its vertical edges only, leaving the upper and lower edges free, and the upper edge is situated a little way below the shelf 1 and preferably inclines downwards towards the bass end, leaving a free space between the shelf 1 and the soundboard.
