Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to braces of the type in which the cord D travels backwards and forwards through loops A, A<1>, C, but it may also be applied to braces in which the cord passes over pulleys. The end of the cord is provided with hooks, buttons, or clips d, which engage slots e<1> in the tab E, or vice versa.
