Tools; toolholders. - A slotting-tool, for cutting rectangular openings in metal plates without altering its position or stopping the machine, is made from square steel by heating, jumping, and hollowing to obtain four cutting-edges B at one or both ends. The tool is secured in a two-part holder D, E, Fig. 2, with grooves slightly less than half the square and mounted in the tool-box so as to be readily adjusted for any depth of cut. According to the Provisional Specification, only one half of the holder may be used, the other half groove being made in the tool-box.
