Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. -The fuel nozzle of a carburettor is made with its supply passage smaller than its outlet, the air inlet to the carburettor not being varied. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement in which the nozzle consists of a tube 9 to which oil is fed through a port 7. Air enters at 13 and passes through a choke-tube 12 attached to the outlet throttle-valve 11. In a modified form the passage 7 is coned in the opposite direction, and the adjusting-needle 17 is carried by a rod passing through the centre of the nozzle and mixing-chamber.
