The hoop D may be a closed ring in one piece as shown in Fig. 8, in which case the flanges are rolled to the sloping sides of the felloe after the latter is built into place. Fig. 2 shows the hoop formed of two flanged rings A, B. A flat binding-tyre C may be shrunk on the felloe to cover the joint. Fig. 6 shows the application to securing a detachable rim X. In all cases the hoop is formed with 'radiussed' edges without turning.
