The ring is split transversely at e, Fig. 2, so as to form a butt or stepped joint, and is expanded or contracted by a right and left hand screw, set-screw, or bolt. A circumferential strip n of vulcanite or other non- conductor is placed between the air-tube and the rim. The part a of the rim may be discontinuous and in the form of a series of projections.
