Abstract

9097. Wolf, T., and Pfõnder, T. April 19. Couplings, automatic. - A railway coupling, with few parts, adapted also to serve as a buffer, comprises a hooked coupling - bar arranged to slide longitudinally in a sleeve pivoted upon one vehicle and adapted to enter a similar sleeve provided upon the opposing vehicle and to engage with a pivoted arm arranged to swing vertically in a slot formed in the latter sleeve. A sleeve 3, pivoted upon a bolt 5 so as to have a limited horizontal swing, carries a hooked bar 7 which can slide against the pressure of a spring 6, being guided by a projection 9 engaging a slot 10 in the sleeve. The bar 7 enters a socket 13 provided in a similar sleeve 12 pivoted to the opposing vehicle and engages an arm 17, bevelled at 20, governed by a spring 19, and fitted with a handle 22 for uncoupling.
