Abstract
8726. Johnson, J. Y., [Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co.]. April 15. Sewing knitted fabrics; seams.-Relates to a two-needle seam specially adapted for uniting the cut edges of knit fabrics, but which may be used for ornamental purposes. In the two-thread stitch seam shown in Fig. 1, the looper thread 7 of each stitch, after being passed through the needle-thread loop 2, is spread into a triangular form, so as to be concatenated with the next succeeding stitches in both lines of stitches. In the single-thraad stitch seam, the needle-thread loops are spread similarly after having been enchained. On the upper side of the material, the stitches are united by one or more threads such as the threads 20, Fig. 3.
