101,867. Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co., (Assignees of Merrit, A. A.). Oct. 18, 1915, [Convention date]. Stitches and seams; multiple - needle machines. - A seam adapted for joining two abutting o r overlapping edges of fabric, or overseaming the edges of superimposed fabrics, or binding a single edge, or for ornamentation or other purposes comprises a surface thread c, d, Fig. 1, on each side of the material, looped diagonally or otherwise across the line of abutment of the fabric edges a, b or the line of the seam, and locked by two threads e, f looped through the material and parallel with the line of the seam, each loop of the surface threads c, d passing through two loops of the threads e, f and vice versa. The seam is formed by two needles 30, 31, Fig. 16, entering the material simultaneously from opposite sides, and two loopers 32, 33 passing across the line of seam in opposite directions and on opposite sides of the material. Each looper passes through the loop formed by its adjacent needle and presents a loop which is entered by the other needle.
