Gases, treating electrically.-In ozone-producing apparatus, the discharging-surfaces are arranged as separately removable units carried by the dielectric unit or units or discharging-units. The metallic electrodes C, C<1>, Fig. 1, such as wires, strips of gauze, or spiral springs, may be arranged at the edges of the dielectric A of mica, micanite, &c. and connected to the induction coil &c. by wires B', B<2>. A number of dielectric units may be mounted in a metal frame D, Fig. 3, which is fitted with a corrugated metal strip E &c. to receive the electrode units F. The metal gauze &c. units C, Figs. 5 and 7, may be stretched or suspended on a sheet A of glass &c. by means of metal strips B, B' so that live electrode units of opposite signs are found on both sides and on opposite sides, respectively, of the dielectric, and in such positions relative to each other that there is no tendency for a spark to pass even if the dielectric is cut away. A battery of these condenser units may be formed by arranging them in grooves in small iron straps I, Fig. 4, which join up the metal hoops J.
