Corrugating.-Relates to a means of screwcapping bottles and other receptacles, and consists in using the threads on the bottle neck as a matrix in forming or finishing the threads on the cap. A plain cap c, Fig. 1, is pressed on the bottle mouth, and then forced on to the threads by lateral pressure exerted by jaws or rolls e spring - controlled or lined with elastic material f. At the moment of exerting pressure, the jaws or the receptacle may be rotated. When using caps of rigid material, threads are first partly formed on the cap as shown in Fig. 3, the flange of the cap being flared out so that it may slip over the mouth of the receptacle. The rest of the operation is as before. The cap is preferably provided with a lug h engaging a notch in the neck, and this ensures a correct positioning of the cap on the receptacle.
