Abstract
6491. Lymn, A. H., and Weil, J. A. March 18. Producers.-In gasproducers supplied with blast simultaneously at the top and bottom, the gases and vapours resulting from the down-draught in the upper part b of the shaft are withdrawn through parts f situated above the final gas outlet k, and are injected at the base of the lower part a of the shaft. Alternatively, the gases and vapours resulting from the updraught in the lower part may be withdrawn through ports situated below the outlet k, and injected above the fuel level in the upper part. The tubes g conveying the gases from the upper to the lower part of the producer, or vice versa, may open into a combustion chamber m, which is supplied with air for the purpose of burning the tarry matter in the gases.
